how-to-get-rid-of-acid-reflux

On the 16 September 1998 my very close aunt died of cancer of the lower esophagus. She had been suffering acid reflux in silence for many years, the only outward signs being bottles of Gaviscon discretely tucked away in the medicine cabinet. It was a wake up call for me when I realised that I had the same chronic disease.

Off and on, I have had acid reflux, GERD, heartburn – whatever you want to call it – for more than 20 years, during which time I have had a variety of doctors look at me, had 5 endoscopies, a variety of medications, and tried a lot of natural remedies and diets, including hypnotherapy.

However, no matter how much or little relief drugs give me from this condition, I have been endeavoring to find a natural way of controlling my acid reflux, rather than relying on drugs, so I have been looking for a cause  – whether it is to do with IBS or other things going on in my body – which can be properly addressed. This website considers many of these causes, and the related remedies, in an ongoing experiment to answer the question “How to get rid of acid reflux”.

Snake Oil

According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Kidney Digestive Diseases, sixty million people experience heartburn at least once a month and twenty five million experience symptoms daily. That’s a lot of people. As a result, an industry has grown up around finding relief and even a cure for the condition. But much of that industry is devoted to easing the dollars/pounds/(substitute your own currency) out of your hands in exchange for, at best, dubious advice, and at worst dangerous and addictive drugs.

I don’t know about you, but I’m fed up with stumbling across “miracle cure” websites which promise to reveal how to get rid of acid reflux  with only 3 (substitute your own number) common household ingredients in 3 (substitute your own timeframe) days? Websites which involve long, repetitive, videos, or interminable “squeeze” pages which require lots of scrolling down, “delighted” customer testimonials and “buy now before the price goes up” statements? Have you bought any of these products? If so it would be great if you could share your experience here.

I have found this site to be really useful resource and I would recommend it anyone that suffers from this uncomfortable condition. The apple cider vinegar you recommend has also proved to work well so thanks a lot. Keep up the good work!
